7 simple ways to romanticize your life

In the midst of the craziness we call life, it's all too easy to take the little things for granted. We live in a world where social media constantly bombards us with carefully curated snapshots of seemingly perfect lives, it's no wonder we find ourselves caught up in comparing our own lives to those of others. We scroll through endless feeds, seeing highlight reels of vacations, achievements, & celebrations, & inevitably, we start to measure our own worth against these idealized images.



The phrase "romanticize your life" has become especially popular these last few years. Initially, I thought it meant making your life as perfect & exciting as possible. But what does it really mean? To romanticize your life means being the main character of your story, doing things that set your soul on fire, taking care of yourself, & experiencing life with a sense of gratitude. Here are 7 simple way to romanticize your life & find the magic in the mundane:


1. Use the Nice Stuff

Don’t wait for a special occasion to spritz your favorite perfume, to drink that expensive bottle of wine, or wear your most prized pair of shoes. Make each day feel a little extra special by using the things you cherish!


2. Buy Yourself Flowers

Why wait for someone else to shower you with your favorite flowers when you can do that for yourself at any given day. Go to your local grocery store & DIY your own arrangement!



3. Go on Solo Dates

As someone who disliked doing things alone (& sometimes still do), this is very empowering. If a friend, family member or partner can't join you - do it solo! Go to a new workout class, see your favorite artist live, try a new restaurant, or even take a solo trip. Enjoy your own presence!


4. Create a Feel Good Playlist

Compile every song that makes you feel alive & energized. Music has the power to shift your mood. Whether you need a pick-me-up after a bad day, a playlist to pump you up during a workout, or those moments when you just want to belt out songs with your besties in the car. Music can transform ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences.


5. Dance It Out

This goes hand in hand with number 4: There's nothing better than letting loose, dancing like no one's watching. The stress that melts away from my body after a dance session is like no other.


6. Elevate Your Surroundings

Transform your environment into a sanctuary. There's small things you can do to upgrade your surroundings. For example: satin sheets, your favorite scented candle, indoor plants, artwork, soft lighting, a cozy blanket. Cultivate a space that best suits your needs.


7. Create your Ideal Daily Rituals

Creating go-to daily rituals can bring structure, mindfulness, & a sense of calm to your everyday life. Figure out what you need to get out from your day to make you feel accomplished, happy, & at peace. That can mean waking up early to make your favorite breakfast, moving your body, calling a friend during your commute/ lunch break, taking a cozy bath... literally anything to make the day a bit brighter!


Romanticizing your life varies from individual to individual. At its core, it's about actively engaging with life & seeking out opportunities to add a touch of magic to your day-to-day experiences. It's not about escaping reality, but rather about enhancing it!
